Probability

MATH:
I taught a lesson on Probability today and my students did very well with it. I did it with stations. I will learn how to attach the lesson and the Smartboard document. The only part that I would change would be the Dice station, after having my students participate, I realized that the connection with their activity and probability was quite loose, I tightened it up verbally as they were working their way through the lesson.

(I just tested these and they are flipped. The first one is the Lesson Plan and the second link is the SmartNotebook Presentation.)

READING:

Another lesson I did last week was paired as a closure activity to reading the book Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Eleanor Coerr. I used the connection of the main theme of the book to the symbolism Coerr used in the text. We used the directions in the back of the text and a lot of patience to complete the lesson of folding the paper cranes. If possible I would suggest small group instruction, since it is a complicated process with quite a few steps. But the students really loved it. Some final products are posted below.
